6.5 mile circular walk Bentley and Isington Mill

Either park on the main road, near The Star, or in the Recreation Ground, in School Lane just off the main road

This is a really pretty walk with fine views from a wooded hill and open land and passing some mills along the River Wey.

The first part of the walk takes in a butterfly reserve , then through some woodland,

to Isington Mill (a converted water mill) which was the last home of Field Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, until he died in 1976

A refreshment stop will be planned, at this point, which is about about half way, so please bring a some snacks/drink with you.

The rest of the walk is through a mixutre of woodland, narrow paths, up a short incline, and open fields.

Dogs are welcome on this walk (though as we cross farm land they will need to be on leads) also there are a lot of stiles to cross which may not be suitable for big dogs.

We also pass a house which has links the the ill-fated Titanic (Tracey will provide more information)!!

As there is a lot of beautiful scenery along the route, this will not be a route march, but will be at a reasonable leisurely pace - probably take about 4.5 hours.

Bentley is just off A31 (towards Alton) and has a railway station for those who want to come train, and we can collect you in the way (please let me know your eta)

The Star pub is at the end so we can call in of or a drink if anyone wants to.

£2.00 Meetup subs applies to this event

Thank you Pauline and Tracy for organising such a great sunny day out in the beautiful Hampshire countryside. It was a real pleasure to meet so many friendly and interesting people - at last! I knew you were all out there somewhere. I hope to join you again when the joints have recovered; definitely in need of more ambling practice :-)

Weather forecast predicts sunshine - but obviously due to recent rain, the paths maybe muddy.
