RE: [running-474] Fleet Feet 15K - Volunteers Needed

Damon, it would be traffic control at an intersection.  The race course is closed to traffic and each volunteer will move the cones across the street at the designated time – we try to have a volunteer on each side of Delaware.  You would have a Race in progress sign and instruct drivers to turn around and go to either Elmwood or Main St. to get around the course.  Once the last runner passes your assigned corner, you can head back downtown to the post race event.  We have police doing this at the large intersections.

Let me know if you would like to help.

Thanks !

I would be interested in finding out the details about volunteering.

Good morning Fleet Feet Meet-up group!  I wanted to send a personal note to all of you.  We are presenting our signature race - the Fleet Feet 15K Run into Buffalo on Monday 9/2 at 8 am at Canalside in downtown.  This event is one of the most important things that we do.  Race proceeds benefit our not for profit - SOS (Shoes on Students) which provides new training shoes to high school runners of need.  In the past 7 years, we have provided over 1,700 pairs of shoes to young runners in communities across WNY influencing their lives in a positive direction.

This year we have a need for race volunteers - some larger groups who have assisted with traffic control have not stepped up this year.  We work with the City of Buffalo to completely close off the race route but we still require volunteers at each corner to control the traffic cones barricading the intersections.  If you are not running the race and would like to assist with traffic control, please let me know directly.  Our Volunteer Coordinator will then provide you with specifics for race day,  It is @ a 3 hour commitment and all race volunteers receive a Race Staff t-shirt and post race food and drink from Fat Bobs.  In addition, we will be doing a raffle from all our volunteers to win one of four $25 Fleet Feet gift cards.

If you are interested in helping, please let me know as soon as possible

Thanks so much !!!   Alice
