Did you know that modern-day sodas were originally potent herbal health elixirs?
Learn how to make your own richer, more delicious & nourishing versions of all the sodas you've ever loved! We will talk briefly about the fascinating history of these thirst-quenching carbonated beverages in this class, and then I will demonstrate a couple of my favorite recipes -- Root Beer & Lemon-Lime Soda, as well as a ginger soda culture you can make at home to replace the ale/champagne yeast (which I also enjoy using) to create the fermentation/carbonation.
Root beer, ginger ale, cream soda, coca cola... make homemade versions that taste better, cost less, use much healthier ingredients, and have all the digestive and immune system benefits of fermented foods! Also, once you know how to make these, you can easily start creating your own soda recipes with your favorite herbal & fruity flavors!
You will also learn how to make your own Kombucha & Jun. Kombucha is a popular fermented beverage on the market these days, and one of the simplest fermented foods to prepare at home! Jun is a more obscure relative to kombucha, which I personally find even more delicious!
I will sample and demonstrate homemade cultured Root Beer, Lemon-Lime Soda, Kombucha & Jun. You will learn the simple methods of preparing all these drinks. After class, you'll receive all the recipes and instructions you'll require for creating these cultured beverages on your own at home!
This is part 1 of a 2-part Fermentation workshop. Part 2 is Homemade Sauerkraut, Kim-Chi & Beet Kvass. You are welcome to attend just one, or both. Investment for one class is $30, or $45 for both classes. We are also open to partial or full barters (contact us for details).
