Hi Everyone!
World's Gym on Morse St. In Foxboro is running an unbelievable deal! They are practically giving away memberships @ just $10/month [other gyms including the Y start their memberships @ $45/month]. You just have to pay $29 'one time' [between Sept/Oct] to guarantee the low rate of $10/mo for the whole yr.
The gym is amazing! It's HUGE, they have a TON of NEW Cardio equipment [bikes, ellypticals, Arc Trainers, Treadmills] AND SPINNING BIKES. They also just purchased a bunch of really great machines ] for your Biceps, Triceps, Back, Chest, Forearms, Abs, etc. AND they just put in a WOMEN ONLY AREA [equipment for buns, thighs, back, chest, waist, etc.].  This is honestly the best GYM & Best Deal I have ever experienced in my 25 yrs. as a Trainer. I love it! They even have a Boxing Area w/Heavy Bag, Speed Bag, Etc.

Finally, if anyone is interested in doing a group class in SPINNING, ZUMBA, ABS, KICKBOXING, PILATES, YOGA, etc. let me know and I can teach it for just $5/class. FYI- you have to be a member to take classes @ the gym.

Hey Tom -

These are great ideas. I was thinking about contacting my local YMCA to see if they'd give us a price break on spinning classes -- it'd be great to get a class for $10/non-members to drop-in if they have the time! Does your health club in E. Providence do anything similar?

As for the AMC hikes, I'd personally love to start doing some hiking with that group (I've gotten their newsletters for a while now and debated shelling out the $40+ to join). Is there a website or something we can link to on the meet-up group site?

And as for volleyball, funny you should send that suggestion. I had another member write me about the co-ed league here at the Ahern middle school (Foxboro) -- maybe we could get our own team going?

I read your email and I would love to do some things different since we can't ride.  I'm belong to a health club in East Providence and they have spinning classes!  I am also going to start hiking with the AMC (Appelahian Mountain Club).  Local hikes I'm talking about.....4-5 mile stuff.   I cycle with them during the summer.  Maybe it's possible to get a few folks together and play volleyball or something.  If a few are interested, maybe kick around on the racquetball courts.

Some of us can brave the elements and still get in a ride or two but it's safe to assume that the vast majority simply won't...or can't.

Craving some indoor rock climbing classes? You get the idea, post it.

For the next few months I will be switching up the meet-ups to include some physical activities outside of the 'grind and grub' -- I'll understand if this isn't your 'cup of tea' and we lose some members but I hope you'll all weather the change (pun totally intended) and know that in the spring, we're back in the cycling business.

New Year's resolutions are about to kick into gear and I'm sure most of us have some variation of "get healthy/lose weight/increase activity level" so get those suggestions on the site.
