Kayaking the Elkhorn Slough

From: Jennifer

Let's get together to kayak the Elkhorn Slough in Moss Landing! The wildlife there is amazing. Watching otters, sea lions, seals, pelicans, cormorants, egrets and a host of other wildlife from the water should provide a unique perspective of how the slough is used by the native inhabitants. And it sounds like a fantastic fun time! No experience needed but you must be a good swimmer.

Bring some vegan snacks to share if you like!

August 1st 12:30PM
Meet in front of Monterey Bay Kayaks 2390 Highway One (carpooling is encouraged). We'll plan on Kayaking down the slough in time to be picked up by a van at 4:30PM. There are only 6 more spaces left in the van so RSVP with them soon!

Rental is $30.00 per person for all-day use of single, double or triple kayaks. The van ride back is an additional $15. If you wanted to you could kayak back instead of getting the ride. There are only 6 more available spots in the van so RSVP soon.

I recommend bringing fingerless gloves because I got blisters on my hands last time.

Rental rates include the following:
* Gear Provided: wetsuit (wear a bathing suit), life jacket, paddling jacket, paddle and of course the kayak.
* 15 - 20 minute on-land orientation: basic info, local weather forecasts, wildlife viewing guidelines and an overview of the paddling area map.

All renters must be good swimmers
Parking fees for vehicles are $3.00/4 hours. These fees are collected by the Moss Landing Harbor District for all vehicles parked in the North Harbor parking lot.

There are two steps to RSVP to this meetup
1. Contact Monterey Bay Kayaks at (800)[masked] or (831)[masked] and reserve a kayak for August 1st at 12:30pm. Make sure to reserve a space in the pickup van. There are only 6 more available spots in the van so RSVP soon. If you wanted to you could kayak back instead of getting the ride.
2. RSVP through the meetup site and indicate that you have made your reservations for a kayak.
