self examination, I think trials, troubles cause us to self examine ourselves. We check to see if what we do or did was correct.

Yes just some points about awareness, at some point all creatures are limited to their viewpoints. Even men, they blind themselves with what is important to them.

So we were talking about awareness and self examination. What do you think? http://youtu.be/aP3gzee1cps

I saw a homeless man walk into a restaurant and go into a garbage can to find food people threw away. He had no concern about anything other than his needs.

But the original question regarding what "Fromm thought" is a different one -- perhaps Fromm might say that only humans can even conceive of something like the abstract idea of "freedom", or even hypothesize regarding such abstracts as "good" or "evil". // personally if animals could talk (or we could understand them) we might know whether such concepts actually cross their minds -- I would not be surprised at all to find rudimentary abstracts there though --- consciousness, like life, seems ubiquitous. [of course that's *my* opinion]

Well I think if you look within yourself, and see others, than it's a good place to start. But saying that you might derive many other conclusions which themselves may not be validated. But more a tool of being divisive. - But getting back to Fromm, it's like not being led by, or being a part some group which might dictate the outcome of your thinking.

    - Further seeing why you are led, or conclude. Or just why you came to the conclusion. Was it to fit in too that order? Or group, which founded their ideas upon being a part of that particular group? And not upon a fact.

I will be in San Antonio working all day doing readings. I will attend if I return early enough. Sometimes I need to stay late for my clients.

Michele just be who you are is best, but even in that sometimes we are looked on as something we perhaps are not. Don't mind me I look at the world sometimes as is compared with words I hear spoken. Not saying that I'm saying this about the speaker. Me I try and like all people but in life that can't always be. Not saying i hate, maybe sometimes, i don't like what people do maybe that's better. But I hope I can forgive anyone. I don't like missing a light because the person in front of me was text messaging'. Maybe I'm am upset at the act without hating the person.

I don't believe in "teachers", I believe we have the answers inside ourselves. Too many have turned to others for answers, when we are the only ones to listen to, our hearts, our own connection to one ness. :)

Hummm...I really keep things simple. I don't feel I have to know or figure all things out. I just simply experience who I wish to express, then, I decide to keep or discard that as who I wish to be as I go. :)

Oneness to me, is being aware I am all things, and feel connected to all animals, trees, oceans, etc. Even when we meet someone who I don't like, I just realize, we are all at different levels of feeling connected or not. I do know from experience, and before that experience, I had a "knowing", that unconditional light/love, is the supreme love, that has no judgments. I was blessed to have a being of love/light share what that feels like. We as humans, will find that difficult to totally get. :) But, all I can do is be me.

Is the Fromm Club an existing organization or is it just starting up?

    Michelle,
I agree if you really mean "preachers". That is why we are not for "authoritarian" religions.

We can all learn from what others see, whether or not we encompass that in our own beliefs. Research shows that the more opinions you listen to the better is your judgment.

    Bring your opinions!
    Derek
