Walk & Breakfast in Central Park

Come explore Central Park West and the rustic hills beyond ~ Join us in a relaxing morning walk at the park, and then we can stop at the new lakeside café for breakfast!

Part of the time we'll be walking on sidewalk through the beautiful, landscaped portion of the park. We'll circle around a duck-filled lake, then climb the dirt path through some short low hills in the rustic part of Central Park that few people know about. We'll follow the bridle path (dirt trail) as it travels the perimeter of the equestrian center. Finally, we cross through the landscaped park again as we return to our cars.

The entire walk takes about an hour, depending on our pace. The distance is about 3.5 miles. Wear comfortable walking shoes (tennis shoes are fine) that you don't mind getting muddy or dusty, wear a light jacket and maybe wear a hat with a brim. You might want to carry a water bottle.

Afterward, if interested, we can stop at the newly opened café. It just reopened under new management, and it's great. The café, called Kathy May's Lakeview Café, overlooks the lake, and the patio is a great place to enjoy a leisurely brunch. See menu:

Well-behaved dogs on leashes are permitted.

MEET-UP LOCATION: We'll meet at the dirt parking lot for the Shipley Nature Center. The Shipley Nature Center is located on Goldenwest Street between Central Library and Rio Vista, which are located between Ellis and Slater. Do NOT go to the parking lot of the Park Bench Cafe. The Shipley Nature Center parking lot is across the street.

Please arrive 10 minutes early; we will start walking at 9 am sharp.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
