Chakra Belly Dance - Embrace your feminine essence. Celebrate and energise your body, mind and spirit.
(Sorry boys, this time this one’s just for the ladies!)
In this beginner’s workshop, you will awaken and align your chakras through dance as a spiritual discipline that ignites and embraces your divine essence. The aim of Chakra Belly Dance is to raise your consciousness, connect with the spiritual world, and transcend the physical.
The session will begin with a meditation to set our intentions, proceeded by a warm up and learning the ancient art form of belly dance. Chakra Belly Dance helps free emotions, enhances your feminine side and enables you to perform sensual movements to healing sounds moving through the chakras.
This belly dance workshop will guide you through the 7 energy chakras (root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras) and focus upon isolating and moving different parts of the body connected to each chakra in sensuous ways. By letting go and having fun learning authentic belly dance moves, you will be taught how to shimmy to awaken your root chakra; do figure of 8 hip movements for the sacral chakra; undulate your stomach for the solar plexus; position snake arms for the heart chakra; and so forth.
To emphasise the spiritual and physical connection between the dancer, their divine essence and Mother Earth, belly dancing is generally danced to barefoot. By dancing through the seven chakras, we will be dancing into seven different ancient worlds, each with their own unique lessons, meanings and stories, providing an opportunity to find harmony and balance within our lives.

Nicky became mesmerised by Belly Dance and Middle Eastern culture during a trip to Egypt around 6 years ago and today regularly performs and dances to this exquisite and ancient art-form. Nicky’s belly dance performing credits include the Cockpit Theatre London; BBC Television; University of East London; RAKS in Belgium; and she often dances in community shows and at special occasions. Nicky continues to train with Master Teachers from Egypt, Turkey and around the world to enhance her skills as a dancer and performer, and maintains that belly dance is an inspiring and uplifting way to celebrate and appreciate the divine feminine essence within.
