Maker Faire

Maker Faire is right around the corner. Last year was pretty amazing, and left me craving more. Join me for a day of robots, electronics, 3D printing, costuming, music, art, games, mutant bicycles, and other DIY mayhem.

You can grab early discount tickets here: http://makerfaire2013.eventbrite.com/

Hey, it was fun meeting all of you. Tho, on further contemplation, maker faire, where we were all wildly distracted by all the fun and excitement, may not have been the best spot for a 'get to know you'! Hopefully I'll meet up with you guys again soon!

Once again, 1pm at the Meeting Pavilion, near the pedal powered music stage and lots of food vendors. I'll be sporting a red, white, and blue RocketMan t-shirt.

(If I could figure out how to message all attendees, I'd pass out my phone number. Hints?)

Hey, Andrew--I just designated you as the host (I forget to do that sometimes, sorry about that) which should give you some additional editing privileges. I don't know whether or not you will be able to email the attendees though. If you don't see that option, shoot me an email with the text that you want and I can cut and paste it in for you. Actually, send the email to me, Stacy, not Noah. I keep forgetting to log Noah out and log myself in. :)

Hi, Stacy, I just emailed Andrew's phone # out to the attendees. Everyone, check your inboxes. -- Erik

Got the times on our team's Carmack Prize talk. Saturday, 4:30, at the 'Make: Live Stage', wherever that is: http://makerfaire.com/makers/winning-the-carmack-prize/

(Our team leads are giving the talk, so I get to relax and watch.)

For big groups, what we've done in the past is wear something identifying. Maybe post something you're wearing that likely no one else might wear? Doesn't have to be today but could be the day of if you're not sure. Some people wear weird hats or t's

Another note, I'm with the southbay snowboarding group, small group of us are carpooling leaving 9:30a from the saratoga AMC theatre parking lot (Mimi's cafe parking lot). It's cheaper and easier to park. Just an idea if anyone is looking to carpool. ~cheers

We can't be there until probably 1:45, but maybe we'll see if we can catch the tail end of lunch and say hi. We typically have to follow our kids, although it gets easier every year. Hopefully we'll run into a few people, but if you feel like intentionally meeting up, leave a comment here and we'll check during the day of. Have fun, everybody! And thanks again, Andrew!

Per Greg's point, how do people feel about meeting at the specified 1pm time for lunch on the fair grounds? (I'd presume you can pack it in if you're wanting to save a couple of bucks.) Then those of us who arrive early can swap info about the must see items. The music nearby was pretty good last year. I'd expect people would break off into groups based on shared interests.

    Weather looks good for Saturday!

As I recall, most of the food vendors were in the Midway, near the Pedal Powered Stage. Maybe we should use the conveniently named Meeting Pavilion as a ... meeting point? ;)

    • Andrew

      Good idea, Greg.

      May 16, 2013

I'll probably get there early & be there all day.

Perhaps we should organize a meeting point and times when someone will be there, to make it possible to actually meet up? :)

I'm an infrequent participant in this group (mostly due to schedule). I sometimes meet friends for lunch, 11:45 or so, at The Swinging Door British pub on 25th just outside the main gate. It's slightly better than the carny food. Maybe I'll see some of you there if not sooner.

    May 2, 2013

  • Erik Ebert and P.

Would love to meet up. I usually bike in to avoid the traffic. They haven't released the schedule yet, but our rocketry team is doing a presentation on our 100k' Carmack prize win.
