What are your particular geeky interests?

I really dig learning how things work. Computers, software, hardware... our brains, biology, physics, chemistry, quantum oddness... it's all so fascinating.

What are your favorite geeky movies/shows/books?

Daily Show, Colbert, Mythbusters... not sure how I feel about the new Penn & Teller - good idea, we'll see if it lasts. Star Trek (ToS, NG, mostly). Farscape! Far more Stargate than I'm willing to admit to in polite conversation... Movies - all the classics, Star Wars, Bladerunner, Alien(s)... it's hard to list them all.

What are your favorite games (boardgames, computer/video games, card games)?

Really digging Minecraft these days, but I've played many and more computer games. Board games - I don't play very many, but I'm cool with trying anything a few times. I rather like RoboRally, but that's probably the programmer in me.

Anything else geeky or random that you would like to share about yourself?

I love soldering together electronics kits, though I tend to stop myself from buying too many such things. Mostly I don't have a purpose for the resulting thing - it's just the assembly I find enthralling. Similarly - I think it's absurd that stores *charge* money to assemble furniture you buy! They take your money *AND* your fun?! I really want to build a spectrograph, too. Just to see the spectra of lights around us... I gather it requires prisms... ;)

New to the area and looking for interesting people to hang out with.
