Based on feedback and a gracious offer, tentative venue at Pol's place in Oakland. Will finalize details this Friday. Still scouting out for venues in SF proper so any ideas, let's hear it.

Unfortunately, I'm not free the weekend of 20Apr, nor 4May (short film shoot at my home)... I don't want to drop out; please advise.

    April 18, 2013

    • jet

Just keep an eye out for other "drop in" games where there's more flexibility.

      April 18, 2013

Holy scheduling conflict, Batman! :( I can't do 20Apr. I don't want to drop out, though... I can rearrange my schedule on 27Apr or I'm free on 28Apr.

It's fine Drake. There will be other games.

Breen is a Cleric of the sun goddess.
Redeemed by the clergy from his dark past in the Bottoms of the City of Strangers, Breen strives always to be useful, to understand people, and to find his place in the world.
Hiding behind humor and sarcasm, he is sincere, earnest, and intense about the fire of redemption - to the point where he is willing to break the rules and endanger his standing as a Priest in order to fulfill what he sees as the mission of the sun goddess.
As relaxed as he might seem around the priests of Abadar and Asmodeus in Kaer Maga, Breen would always seek to subvert, convert, and overthrow their causes and worshippers.
He has a dark childhood he speaks of only when drunk or after sex.
He is handsome and more than suave enough to earn free nights with the sacred whores in the City of Strangers.
He employes these same skills to expand the reach of Redemption's powers.

Also the magus class might be too complicated to play for anyone new to the game, since it has so many features and skills to remember. For example, the discussion on what is called, Spell combat and Spellstrike. At 1st level, spell combat allows you to wield your weapon at a -2 penalty using a light weapon and cast a spell in 1 full round action. Keep in mind while wearing medium/heavier armor, possible arcane failure applies while casting spells. Spellstrike is a 2nd level ability that allows you to channel a spell through your weapon via range "touch" spells only. He would not be able to use that yet. So Drake, if you like to reconsider playing a magus, I'd recommend to choose another simple class to play. Otherwise, we'll learn his abilities and you can plan your actions ahead of time so when it's your turn, you will be ready. That should apply to everyone actually when planning your actions to help keep the game moving.

Sorry for the wall of text.

Sorry I haven't been following these comments closely... SFSU class and all, but I pretty much think I can handle the magus intricacies.

Ok, so we have Aeneas the magus on board.

Trying to get your feedback, will you guys be able to game at Pol's place in Oakland since he's offering to host? Most of us are in SF, we can all meet up at say a Bart station and take it to his place. Thoughts and comments? Gerardo, I believe you're the only exception, since you're coming from Daly City. I'm scouting out some venues in the city as well.

      I can give it a go... although the following 2 Saturdays (27Apr & 4May) I'm not available. :(

      April 18, 2013

    • jet

No problem Drake, we'll just play it by ear.

What if everyone wrote up a little background for their character including their history in the city of Strangers? We could post them here.
We could have a public history and a private history....

A few things about the ranger's favored enemy, you get +2 to both attacks/damage dealt. Also to some skills like knowledge and bluff, about and against those enemies. Unfortunately, you don't get to bypass undead DR just because their your favored enemy. Jose, as you're more familiar with the rules, can you confirm this?

When clerics use their channel ability, they can either heal their allies or cause damage to their enemies. Sadly, you can't channel positive energy to both heal your companions and damage undead at the same time. It's one or the other. I might have goofed that last encounter, lol.

Gabe and I had an amazing time, and will definitely be back - the 20th just happens to be my birthday, so we are going to be out and about that day. I'm so sorry I didn't mention it - I honestly had forgotten it was Saturday (thought the 20th fell on Sunday this year).

I'm sorry Erin, no disrespect meant on my message. I referred to just blowing out your b-day candles, not cutting yourself like your character did in the adventure with the Babylonian Candle. No harm meant.

      April 14, 2013

  • Gerardo V.

I really enjoy session1, can't wait to see what other mysteries does the city of Strangers has for us!

    April 14, 2013

  • jet

You've all accomplished the previous task of retrieving the Babylonian Candle with simple determination. The Starving Stirge beckons you to celebrate your deeds as you ponder what to do with the missive from the cleric of Pharasma. Will you and your party answer her call?
