Let's begin - tell us a little about yourself (i.e. occupation, where are you from, etc)

I'm originally from Cocoa, Florida, which means my childhood was fueled by dreams of space shuttles and The Mouse. Currently I am a freelance writer for a PR firm where I mostly work on communications that relate to pharma and healthcare. I also have a small zombie-related side business with a high school friend, but I won't go on about that unless you seem interested or horrified by the idea. I like learning about new things and making things. "Making things" can mean anything from paintings to stories to plans for world domination. I love spending time with creative people. I love sci-fi/fantasy TV, movies, books and the occasional comic book. Some favorite TV shows: Battlestar Galactica (new), Buffy, The Walking Dead, The Killing, Caprica. Some favorite movies: The Matrix, Labyrinth, The Goonies, Constantine, Inception. Currently addicted to Morning Glories. I really hate watching sports and/or talking about them...even Pyramid and Quidditch.

What are some of your hobbies? What activities do you enjoy most? This will help us with deciding future meetup events.

I like...hanging out hilariously, hiking/outdoor activities, dancing (swing dancing or at clubs), seeing or making art, singing/karaoke/rock band, going to movies, TV night, Comic Cons, ghost tours, laser tag, paintball, live music, comedy and anything that resembles theater (participating or watching). I like to talk and listen about art, music, politics, philosophy, science, books, metaphysics, psychology and fandom. My husband is equally geeky and likes all of these things, so he would probably come to meetups with me. P.S. I would be SO UP for helping with anyone's film project or YouTube pipe dream.

All geeks are welcome! What type of geek do you most identify with?

Buffy-lovers. And Battlestar Galactica lovers. So say we all.

Introduction

Hi, um, hi...introductions are so awkward [cursor blinks expectantly]...other than my husband I do not have enough local geek friends, which just doesn't work for me--plane fares add up, Con tickets sell out...so here I am =0)
