In February 2013, Euan Hague stayed in Rio de Janiero and Curitiba, exploring the former as a tourist and the latter as an urban geographer. Rio’s spectacular views and dramatic scenery make it one of the most amazing urban landscapes in the world. Curitiba is a world leader in sustainable urban development and environmental planning. Since the mid-1970s, the city has operated a comprehensive public transit network of high speed buses, developed a recycling program, and devised a series of parks and gardens that both control flooding and provide amenities. Join Euan as he examines these two Brazilian cities.
