Full Moon Tour and campfire at the Wolf Sanctuary

**OK this event is changing dates to December 1st, 2012. The initial date in the description was a suggestion from a member, which I unfortunately couldn't do. This sounds like a great event and I'd be happy to host it, but that means I have to change the date. If people who signed up already prefer the September 29th option, then I need a volunteer to be the organizer for this event. Otherwise you're stuck with me on 12/1 :)

For $20 a person, we get a tour, a campfire, free hot chocolate/coffee/tea and a small snack - they do encourage us to bring hot dogs and marshmallows for the fire. I think we should plan to meet in the Wolf Sanctuary parking lot at 7pm to give us time to organize and not be late. Apparently they will have entertainment there as well! So as long as we dress appropriately, we should be good to go!**

Description from the website below:

Full Moon Tour $20 per person -

By the Light of the Moon Tours: Full Moon walks with campfire. Create your own experience. Please no children under 16 AND no pets in your car or otherwise. If you have questions, please email at [masked] or call[masked]-4617. it's a tour we do once a month on the closest Saturday to the full moon. We say create your own experience. What we mean by that is -- instead of following a tour guide from pack to pack at a regulated pace that fits within a 45 minute to 60 minute time line, you get to go at your own pace from pack to pack talking to a tour guide who is stationed at each pack. You can listen to what they have to say about the wolves we have here. About the wolves at their station or you can ask questions. You move at your own pace. If you get tired and want to sit, you can go over and sit next to a roaring bond fire and just relax. The full moon tour starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. Bring a blanket, a flashlight, a chair, maybe some hot dogs and marshmallows. We hope you will come. Sometimes we just sit around and talk, other times we have entertainment. We always have fun, and its always about the wolves.

Can I please get a quick count on who wanted to carpool from york to dinner? We would be leaving at 4PM from the galleria mall - my count stands at me, Gen, Jill C, Aimee, Sal and Sherry. If there's anybody else that should be on that list, please let me know! Or if I included anybody that didn't want to be, let me know about that too :-)

okay York carpool people, Jill won't be joinin g us because she doesn't feel well so we should all be able to fit in 1 car. let's meet in the back of the parking lot of JCPenney at the York Galleria Mall. I will be driving a black Chevy Equinox SUV that is in dire need of a car wash :-) please be there by 4 so we can get on the road pretty quickly. if I listed you above and you no longer need a ride, then please let me know so we don't wait for you. thanks!

Aimee, It didn't sound like anyone from the York carpool but me wanted to do the dinner. I emailed Erica about riding with her. You may want to see if she has room for another.

I am going to pass on dinner. If anyone wants to meet in the Ollies parking lot in front of the Galleria Mall just off Rt. 30 at the Mt. Zion Road exit at 5:45 let me know.

I'll be driving from Gettysburg if anyone needs a ride.

    November 26, 2012

    • Tanya

If you take Rt 30 it takes almost 2 hours to get to york, and then another to get to the wolf sanitary. You would be better of going to Harrisburg, 1 hour and 40 minutes to the sanctuary. Just my thoughts, carpool with harrisburg peeps.

      November 26, 2012

    • Diane

Actually it takes an hour and 15 minutes to get to York (well West York) from where I live (which is west of Chambersburg). My sister used to live near the Denny's in York and I drove Rt 30 to get there all the time.

      November 26, 2012

  • Diane

If anyone still has room left for me in their carpool, please let me know. I'm coming from Chambersburg and it's quite a distance from me.

    November 26, 2012

  • Jill C.

Do the york car poolers plan on dinner before?

    November 26, 2012

    • Tanya

I am going to pass on dinner too, maybe we could meet at the old boarders about 5:45?

      November 26, 2012

    • Tanya

It would be at the new "Ollies" parking lot across from the Galleria Mall in the parking lot.

Ok there seem to be a few different conversations going on here - I have been out of town and will organize an official dinner for those interested when I get back

    November 25, 2012

Well, there's a new Appalachian Brewing Co in Lititz, but there are local options like La Piazza (501 just south of Lititz town limit, good pizza and sports bar in the back with decent bar food offerings), the Sutter Inn (more upscale, crowded, might be tough for a group), sushi and Asian at Mojo a couple miles south of town also on 501.

  • Michelle K.

Any thoughts on where to meet up for dinner first, anyone? I'm not familiar with the area, so I'm cool with wherever is decided. Have gps, will travel : )

I would like to RSVP and attend, but I'm on call that weekend. If there is inclement weather, is the event cancelled? I'll only be called to work if the weather is bad...

    November 17, 2012

    • Erica

I'm not sure if inclement weather would cancel it but i would certainly make every effort to notify people if it is. however, you can RSVP yes for a spot and if inclement weather occurs, just change your RSVP to no. hopefully it will be beautiful weather for a full moon! :)

I am worried that with such a large group, I might just end up being by myself as I am reluctant to join groups where everyone already knows each other. I live in New Oxford and would love to carpool just to meet someone before the event.

Hi Jill. I live on the west side of York. If you want to ride with me we could meet someplace off of Route 30 in York.
