Santa Anita Park Photography Day (no host)

I know this is a workday, but if you feel like playing hookie at work/school, then this is a wonderful place to take some beautiful shots of the horses and the scenery. Hope to see you there!

Be at Santa Anita Park by 7:30 am (Enter through Gate 8) to register and then shoot at Clocker’s Corner. When workouts conclude, breakfast will be served followed by a Q & A with track photographers, trainers and management. Each person will have insider access to the paddock.
A one of a kind experience to shoot at historic an historic sports palace and the spectacular horses that live here.

What are the best lens for this event?

If you're trackside, I suggest practicing panning shots. Track your subject early then shoot as they are in front of you. You'll need a slower shutter speed to get that nice blur.

I purchased my ticked for the day, but when I printed it it said that "This ticked does not include parking". The description said parking was included, so I called Santa Anita. The group sales office said that since we were arriving that early in the morning the parking booths would not even be staffed. And that if there was any question on the way out to just show our credential.

Yes, this is correct. I called also when i noticed that on the ticket. Parking is included because there will be no attendant, so technically it was free. Thanks for posting this, Carl.

anyone know if the gold line reaches that far, or if there's a train? I think I can make it there that early if there is a train...alternatively anyone want to carpool from Lancaster?

    February 6, 2013

    • Eric

I don't think so, Phil. But you can catch a bus from the end of the line. Check out the sierra made station and metro for the connecting bus.
