it was a good event over all.. many people couldn't find a sit, but the people who came before 9:45 got in quick and found a sit with no problem.
They did over booked them self, but I don't think they ever imagine so many people showing up

What time did you get there? I am happy for you!

Jen& I got in. I am so stoked to be here and can't believe it's all free!

Yes, but as someone who has hosted many events, you only grant tickets to those who have RSVP'd and they get into an event regardless of payment (you always plan for the shows- 20% or more) unless otherwise stated. Everyone else who shows up without a ticket is on a first-come, first-served basis, and it is clearly stated as to what time they get in. The organizers are clearly at fault this time and in my opinion, very much negligent - the parking and registration issues were foreseeable.

Definitely! We left after 1. They had free drinks and candy but that wasn't enough. We just had sandwiches @ Mendocino Farms in Santa Monica Blvd.

I didn't get in either. Maybe they will do the similar event again?

  • Lee

That's what happens when events are free. They should have charged a fee. I would have paid $25-$50 to see these presenters. Anna, it is not your fault.

As a note, I am a member of APA, one of the co-sponsors and will let them know as they sent this out to their membership early on, as well as those contacts I have with the other co-sponsors. I understand the Fire Marshall closed the event some time ago, yet I was able to still get a ticket at 1:36pm. I am not a complainer-type of person, but there were other photography events today that many of us missed - [masked] is the contact on their website for tickets.

Sorry for those that left early / turned away

    Agree.

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get in, Sheri and lee.the speakers and demos so far are excellent. But I don't think they should have allowed the tickets to be sold this l8. That's negligent.

  • Anna

Shame, I am sorry I got everyone involved.

I just checked their website and saw that they are still accepting online registrations for the next four hours. So, beware - the organizers are not on top of it.

I was there just after 10am as finding parking was a nightmare. It is mostly restricted and limited street parking. They told people to leave as they were at capacity of 300. Therefore I left, and then saw that people kept coming. I registered early and had a ticket as did most everyone else. Not sure how the organizers could consciously over-book by such an excessive number - what a mess!!
    Lots of unhappy people!

To be fair they have space and are fairly well organized however the local fire marshal on site started to restrict entry. I think exit in case of emergency is his concern. Yes maybe they should have had more engagement with the marshal before the event

    Looks like the overbooked themselves.
