Salute! Welcome fellow vinophiles!!* Welcome to The Grape Escape! The Grape Escape is a social networking experiment for people who enjoy wine, have an interest in general wine knowledge, and/or are interested in wine-related tourism. While we welcome everyone with an interest, this is NOT going to be a snooty group of tres chic sophisticates touting their 500 bottle Vinocaves stuffed to the gills with 1975 Premier Cuvee Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon and 2005 vintage right-bank Bordeaux. (In fact, if you UNDERSTAND more than half of the terms and phrases written in the previous paragraph, you have, by default, disqualified yourself from membership. Hey, we have to have SOME STANDARDS!!! However, I could be otherwise persuaded with the payment of "snobstitution" in the form of a case of 1982 Chateau Petrus) No, this is to be a fun group for fun people that simply want to soothe away the rough edges of a hard day with a nice glass of wine, all the while enjoying the company of a few new friends. It is also a way to learn about wine and discovering your personal palate. The objective is to have fun...the learning is purely consequential and entirely unintentional!! We will participate in Grape Therapy Sessions such as dine-outs at some of the local restaurants that serve wine, hold a few public and private wine tastings (perhaps even a blind tasting at some point) and even plan a road-trip or two to some of Arkansas' and Missouri's wineries. If we get large enough, we might even plan some power-buys on wines by the case from select wineries. So, if you are interested, we will get started. But...be forewarned! In vino veritas!** Randy *Although vinophile is thought to be a real word meaning "wine lover," it isn't actually a real word. But the term is gaining popularity, so what the hell...we will use it here. **In vino veritas is Latin. It means, "in wine, there is truth." (see, learning as began already...and you haven't even joined yet!
