Star Wars - Edge of the Empire

I'm starting a new public game at Dream Wizards. The first adventure will be the published Game Day adventure "Under a Black Sun". Players can bring their own characters or use one of the pre-gens founds on the Fantasy Flight Games website. I will only be using material from the Edge of the Empire Core book. I do not have the Age of Rebellion beta and do not want to add any more variants to the game until I have more experience with the system. This will be my first time running the new FFG Star Wars RPG, so expect mistakes to be made.

I encourage players to use either physical dice or the official FFG dice app.

The primary purpose of the sessions is to introduce new players to the FFG Star Wars RPG system, or to the role playing hobby. I expect last minute walk-ups and player turn over. However, I will cap Meetup slots at 4 players to keep the game manageable and the action moving.

Hmm, may not be working from Shady Grove tomorrow. I'll see if one of the other two waiting want the spot, but I'll re-join if no one claims it.

Great, looks like the game filled up. Wasn't looking forward to fighting my way from Arlington to Rockville during rush hour.

As way of background. The first adventure will occur on Coruscant. Here's a link to the wookieepedia article on the planet. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/...

The FFG Star Wars system uses a "narrative" dice system. This system works differently from traditional D20 systems. If you want to hear some examples of how the system can be run listen to the short audio clips at this link. http://theskillmonkey.blogspot....

The Order66 podcast gives more in-depth reviews, interviews with the designers and other pieces that add flavor to the game.

Here's the page with the pregens, by the way:

I'll call dibs on Grabow, the wookie doctor. Screaming at patients until they get better sounds like a solid medical treatment to me.

Unfortunately, that is too long of a drive for me to make on a week day.

I live pretty close by, and will be going the pregen route as well. I do have some questions about the system. Is this a "hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side" system, where any old Han with a blaster can do alright? Or is it a "the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force" system, where if you're not a Jedi, you're chopped liver?

They took the game back to first principle, they are following the original movie trilogy like West End Games did. There aren't any major jedi and the force is more myth and legend than part of everyday life.

Sounds good! I played a scoundrel/slicer in d20 Star Wars amongst a pack of Jedi, and was the only guy in the bacta tank at the end of each session heh.

Sounds interesting, and the location is relatively close to where I work. May have to play a pregen though, I have no experience with the system yet.
