Hey, Just wanted to let you know that October 23 won’t work. We are going to have an all day and night event for Halloween. I hope you can participate. J

So, I’m going to be on vacation from the 7th to the 15th of October (or thereabouts), and I’ve been thinking a bit about setting up an October event now, so that everything will be in alignment by the time I leave.
If possible, I’d like to do another three- or four-table event like we did a few months ago, and I’d like to resurrect the Speed Delving idea that was posted way back when. For those who didn’t see the original, the idea is to have a few tables (optimally, each with a different game). Players sit down at one, play for about an hour, then get up and rotate to the next table, play that one for about an hour, and so on, until everyone’s played all the available games for an hour each.
For players, it’s an opportunity to try a new game (or two, or three…), as well as playing with some new GMs and new players, and if personalities and play styles work well together, a new long-term group may for out of it. For GMs, it’s an opportunity to perhaps try running a game they haven’t had a chance to experiment with before, to re-familiarize themselves with an old favorite, and to meet new players for that above-mentioned potential long-term campaign.
More than anything else, what we would need to make this work is a few volunteer GMs. I’d definitely run one of the tables; if we could get two or three other folks to run, then we could do an hour to an-hour-and-fifteen apiece; even getting one other GM would allow us to do two two-hour tables. As a GM, you wouldn’t even need to prep a whole four-hour adventure; you’d just have to craft one perfect hour. This could be a combat encounter, a devious puzzle, or some good way to showcase what your chosen game does well.
If you think you might want to GM, get in touch with me, and we can work out the details. Right now, October 23rd looks good (that’s a Sunday, by the way), as it’s one of the few days in October that we could potentially get all (or at least most) of Labyrinth’s gaming space to ourselves. If you’re into the idea as a player, I’ve started a thread in the message boards to discuss what you might want to see being run, as well as any other topics that come up:
Hope to hear from everyone on this one!
