We are the Greater New York Independent Publishers Association (“GNYIPA”), a small, select professional level group of people involve with book publishing, writing, book design, book promotion, and self publishing. Our published works comprise a wide range of subjects and genres, including: non-fiction, fiction, self-help, history, LGBT literature, art, photography, playwrights, memoirs, children’s books, and other genres. You do not need to be a published author to join GNYIPA, but you need to have as professional attitude about yourself and your work. GYUIPA meetings are not the place to hustle your work, tell us all of your opinions, and be disruptive. We are looking for people to join GNYIPA who can be an asset the group, who value working with a group, and who have time and energy to give to our projects such as readings, book fairs and events, etc. What we can offer you is real support in the extremely difficult environment of publishing today. If you feel that this kind of group is for you, then we will welcome you as a guest to your first meeting. To attend a second meeting, you will have to be invited to join, after filling out a membership form. Be advised: we are a working group of professionals in the book world, so our meetings deal with professionalism and how to maintain it. They are not simply entertainment. Potential authors who are progressing on their manuscripts and are considering self-publishing their work are welcome to attend. We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at a midtown location. To find out the location, you need to be invited by the organizer of this group.
