5m Cycle Ride with Paul

Hey,

Gentle Sunday Bike Run anyone?

Paul's organised this 3rd bicycle ride, leaving from Greenwich, on a Sunday ... so hopefully more can manage along :0)

The first two, went really well, so any keen cyclists are encouraged to give it a go!

Paul says:

"The route will be from Gipsy Moth in Greenwich to The Dickens Inn at St Katherine Docks - http://www.dickensinn.co.uk/.

Come & join us on a 5 mile gentle bike ride as we go through the tunnel to join the Thames Path from Island Gardens to Tower Bridge where we will stop for some lunch.  Along the route we will cycle through Canary Wharf and stop at the Prospect of Whitby, traditional British pub, for refreshments.

View here:

http://www.taylor-walker.co.uk/pub/prospect-of-whitby-wapping/c8166/

The Prospect of Whitby has a long bar, wood fires and lovely balcony onto the river.  Historically, it was a haunt for theives and smugglers but also a regular drinking place for Charles Dickens and Samuel Pepys - well worth a visit!"

For further details, email Paul direct, leave a post below or contact him on [masked] 739.

Cycle On!

Dear all it appears everyone took me for my word by not turning up because of the forecasted rain., which never happened Thanks for those who texted to say they were not able to come.

Doug did turn up, and we had a good long ride following the riverside walk from Greenwich to New Beckenham, we then had lunch in a pub in Penge then cycled through Crystal Palace Park, and then picked up the riverside walk back in Lower Sydenham, it was a good ride good company and it was nice cycling a distance.

As for this ride watch this site and another date will be sorted out.

No rain but was a bit blowy! Unfortunately I didn't manage to meet up with the rest of the group :-( Waited at Island Gardens until 11:25 and then got going.

Apologies Matthew for you waiting, if you had texted me Doug and I would have come over

Unfortunately no one showed up except Paul and I. Not sure if people were uneasy about the weather or what. We waited until 1130 before deciding to give up on the group. Ultimately changed our route and headed off on our own. Followed the river path down to Crystal Palace Park before having lunch at a pub in Penge. Turned out brilliant. Great ride, no rain, and cool enough to keep from getting overheated. Thanks, Paul.

Dear all, not to be deterred by the rain, we could still walk it instead of cycling it,

I have walked this route when it has been raining and it was ok.

So if it is raining can you let me know if you would walk it instead. Naturally I am hoping the weather forecast is wrong

Hi Paul and all, I'm going to do this on a borisbike. So I'll pick one up from Island Gardens and wait for you all at the tunnel exit next to the green tea hut.

Hi fellow cyclists, please can you note the following.

    1. I do not have a smartphone if you are going to be late or cannot come can you text me on above number.

    2. Please bring a padlock with you, I will bring a spare just in case someone does not have one.

    3. We will not be ending up at the Dickens Inn as there is no cycle racks there, instead we will be going to one of my favourite pubs where the food and drink is extremely good and that is the Horniman at Hays at London Bridge.

    4. If you are going by train back from London Bridge check to see your trains are running, as they tend to do a lot of work on the lines on sundays, or you could cycle back with me.

    many thanks

    Paul
