I spoke with the owner of Viva Fernando recently, and he is very excited to host us on their awesome patio. It is tucked away behind an office building on Detroit Avenue just off I-90 between Clague and Columbia. The patio is a little oasis of calm, good seafood and music.
John Petkovic from the Plain Dealer recently gave it four olives:
What do you get when you cross a fiesta with a backyard patio party? I have no idea, but I bet it feels a little like Viva Fernando. The Spanish restaurant boasts a wide-open patio anchored by a huge gazebo-style bar that packs 'em in -- even on a Monday, when most places still can't get out of bed after a long weekend. Not here. Happy Hour attracts a wide-ranging bunch. They come to sample the $5.95 tapas deals, indulge in dollar-off drinks and avoid work. The Tino's Casserole was good, too: a mix of shrimp, Spanish sausage, garbanzo beans and mushrooms. Went well with the Galician meat pie and a gin-and-tonic. But it's the patio and get-out-of-work vibe that sets it apart. Who wants to work anyway?
