Whether sipping on a refreshing mojito or a pomegranate martini you will enjoy happy hour and the cool lighting at the bar at Pier W in Lakewood.
12700 Lake Ave., Lakewood
Hours: 4-7 p.m. Sunday-Friday
Eat like a king, walk out like a pauper. That's how most upscale joints make me feel. Not Pier W, no way. Happy Hour with half-off appetizers and discounted drinks at this Lakewood restaurant made my tummy happy and my wallet happier. The Angus Reserve Sliders ($5) -- with brioche, cheddar cheese, aioli and potato croquettes -- are the antithesis of White Castle. Mmm, and the Calamari Fritti ($5) is, well, mmm. The mojito ($5.25) inspired my eyes to stare at the lake and dream of summer. Too bad the day was overcast and gray. The elegant, deep-hued, lighted bar made my eyes wander back. Man, since when is snazzy so affordable? Only $15 and change, woohoo.
