Meet up with a difference.
So its that time of year again when we want to have a get together, meet up with you our friends and drink some coffee together. The last ones we have done have been fairly informal affairs, chat coffee and off. But this time we have a plan something that will make you want to come along. We also know that is going to be over subscribed this time, there is limited places with something that will be very exciting.
Its going to be in Stafford, its going to be at the roastery, and its going to be a 11pm till 4 pm learning and mix up fest.
There will be two courses (two maybe three). This will be on making espresso, steaming milk and putting it all together. Now I am no barista that we can be sure of that, so I've roped in the 2009 Irish Barista Champion and 2009 4th placed finalist from the World Barista Championships, and the newly crowned UK Barista 2010 Champion and 2009 UK Latte Art champion and 6th placed from the 2009 world latte art championships. Not one but two national champions. The programme will be firmed up closer to the date. But it will be an espresso fest.
Now we only have two espresso machines to do this on, so we need to keep numbers to a minimum. So when its full it full, there is a waiting list once it fills up. You need to go to this site here and RSVP as soon as possible. The price is £10 for the day, but you will leave with £10 worth of coffee at least, and also drink oodles worth of espresso, the price is more to make sure people turn up, again because of the limited space, a financial commitment always helps sort the people who may come, and will come. I'm afraid we cant allow guests with attendees because of space we just can't accommodate them.
So should be fun, an experience like this would normally cost many many times and you wouldn't get the coffee goodie bag at the end.
We look forwards to seeing you.
I'm sure we can sort something out, what time you arriving?
I could get into Stafford at 1000, 1010 or 1029...whichever works best for anyone else
OK I'm sure I'll be doing some runs from the train station book which ever suits.
Will we be able to get something to eat nearby, or should we bring Sandwiches?
Nothing for miles around I'd say eat before or bring snacks :)
I can stop off at the Stafford station on my way through if any one needs a lift. I am aiming to be there between 1000-1030.
Andy...think I could steal a lift? Saves Steve a trip from the roastery into Stafford and back (although thank you Steve, the offer's very much appreciated but it seems there's only me using public transport!)
Would 1010 be OK?
I could do with a lift from the station or I'll happily share a taxi. My train is due into Stafford at 1035.
Thanks Andrew will speak to you closer too but I'll try and do a 9 am 10 am and 11 am run (got andy our roaster involved too)
Hi there, my train is due to arrive at 10:22. Would be great to catch a lift if possible. Otherwise is there a bus that could get me within walking distance? Thank you
Hi All
Quite happy to pick anyone up from the train station. I can pick up, up to 3 people 4 if you don't mind getting real friendly on the back seat! I'll aim to be there around 10.30 quite happy to wait until the 10.35 train or later. Just let me know.
Colin
Hi All - I'll be driving across from Leeds Saturday morning (and straight back at 4pm). If anyone's coming from nearby and needs a lift in either direction give me a shout. Cheers, Rahim
Hi Colin (Morgan),
Thanks for the offer of a lift from the 10.35 train. If you see that it's any more than 10 mins late, don't bother waiting: 11.00 lift that Steve and Andy are offering probably makes more sense.
Apologies to anyone hoping from a lift from the rail station but I have had to change my travel plans so will now be getting the train myself.
Hope to get there about 10ish.
I can pick up from the station as I literally live 1 minute's drive away, will have to be quick because there are now lane closures in place to help the lorries in and out of the new car park building site.
OK Richard that's great if you can pick Up. I have the first pick up at 9:30 am the next I'll send Andy down around 10:40am. if anyone needs later let me know and we can do an extra run.
Car is a black range rover (not too many of them in stafford)
Hi Stephen, is there parking if I drive? I'm afraid south Shrops isn't very well connected by train.
Lat time checking now, will check again briefly before I head to the station.
Gorgeous drive there across the Peak District, Steven sorted a wonderful meeting, and we learnt a lot from everyone. The light was superb on the way back, twisty roads are more fun on a caffeine high!
Thanks to those who persuaded us to get an Aeropress: 3 made with different coffees, 1 in the expresso machine as comparison and now jumping!
Thanks to everyone who came yesterday, it was so good to meet you all. I know how precious all of your time is, so thank you for taking the time out to spend it in a warehouse on Stafford.
But alas now time for me to go clean up all of your mess:)
