Are you often nervous or uncomfortable in social situations? Do you have difficulty managing pressure? Is the feeling that you are on the edge of losing control recurrent in your mind? Does it feel like you have designated “safe zones” and “safe people” — certain places or people you solely trust? Are you ready to change?
The Healing Anxiety Group is for people who are ready and willing to transform their lives for the better. People who have experienced, are experiencing, and try to forget their experiences with all of the above and so much more. Did you know that 18 percent of Americans ages 18 and older have an anxiety disorder? That’s approximately 40 million people! Could you imagine what might happen if just a handful here and there joined forces and helped each other defeat their fears? Stop the constant, running thoughts? Focus on the positive rather than the negative?
Led by two current anxiety fighters, The Healing Anxiety Group is a hybrid support group. As is standard with support groups, this group will be wholly focused on positivity, guidance, comfort, advice, and — did we mention positivity? All shapes, sizes, sexes, ages, races, religions (whatever!) are welcome. We are open-minded and hold no prejudices and we expect our members to be the same, as well. An open forum such as this demands nothing less. Together, we can all learn from each other and make significant strides to grow and overcome our anxieties.
When battling a mental illness, it’s so easy to throw up your hands and surrender. It’s so easy to sit back and let your mind take the steering wheel. It’s so easy to get down on yourself and be negative and complain about your “lot in life.” The bold, courageous thing to do is to wake up smiling. Find lessons in painful, difficult moments. Stand tall when everything inside of you is telling you to hide in the corner.
