There is a cool trail in the Big Frog Wilderness (just a different name for the Tennessee side of GA's Cohutta Wilderness) for which I have hiked but cannot find a name. Regardless, the hike is pretty easy and should cover approx eight miles (though we can do more if the group wants).
No special equipment is needed, but do bring hiking shoes, lunch, water, some snacks, and some stories to share! Level/Pace is intermediate, so experienced hikers only please. And as Steve and others always request: no pets please.
Meeting Spot: We'll meet at the Visitor's Center on Highway 64, just west of Copperhill/Mackayesville at 11:15, then drive to the trail, which is about 15 minutes away. Note: The Visitor's Center is where the held the whitewater events for the Summer Olympics in 1996, so you'll see lots of outfitters along Highway 64 offering rafting trips. For planning purposes, expect to be back in the Atlanta area sometime around 6pm.
Carpool Options - Updated On 12/27: I will run a carpool from the parking lot of Best Buy on Haynes Bridge Rd and Exit 9 off of 400. Please be there by 9:15am (we will leave promptly at 9:30am). I have a white Toyota Sequoia and will meet you in the parking lot on the left hand side of the store. Please send me an eMail by Saturday night to let me know you want to carpool with me. BTW, please make sure to bring some water, lunch, and snacks, as well as a towel and shirt change for the ride home.
