About The Trail: This trail circles a nice-looking lake, then connects to the Appalachian Trail where, depending on the terrain, we can either head south to Woody Gap or north to Jarrad Gap. Either way, we'll do about eight miles total.
The hike should take about three hours. We'll travel at a good pace, so this hike should be for intermediate to advanced hikers. Please make sure to bring some food, water, and snacks. Though hiking sticks may be helpful to some, no other equipment is needed. And as always, no dogs or children. For more about this trail, go to
Meeting Spot: The Dockery Lake trailhead at 11:30am.
Directions: From where 19 and 60 split just outside of Dahlonega, take 60 north approximately 3.6 miles, then turn right onto FS 654. Proceed one mile, then turn left where the road forks and continue to the trailhead.
Carpool Options: I will run one carpool; we'll meet at the Best Buy near North Point Mall (exit 9 off of 400; meet in the parking lot to the far left-hand side of the store) at 9:15am. Please email me if you'd like to carpool with me, or send a group email if you'd like to get a group to carpool from a different location (FYI: your email re carpooling gives me advance notice re how many people are carpooling, but please don't expect individual confirmations!). BTW, I drive a white Toyota Sequoia.
