About The Trail: This is an easy yet scenic loop trail covering about eight miles in the Blue Ridge Mountains. No special equipment is needed, but do bring hiking shoes, lunch, water, some snacks, and some stories to share! Level/Pace is intermediate (meaning you can walk at 3 miles an hour and not hold the group up), so experienced hikers only for this trip. And as Steve and others always request: no kids or pets please.
Notes: Budget about three hours for this hike. Distance = eight miles. Rating = easy. Please bring water and a snack or lunch. No water crossings. No special equipment needed.
Where To Meet: Please meet at the trailhead, which is on FS 58 halfway up the mountain between Doublehead Gap and FS 42. Please note that the trailhead is where the Appalachian Trail crosses FS 58.
Carpool Info: I will run one carpool from Alpharetta. Please send me an email that you would like to ride with me by Saturday night before the event so I can reserve your spot. FYI, your email let's me know you are coming and gives me a headcount so I'll know how many cars we'll need; please note, however, that due to the volume of emails, I do not confirm each individually.
For my group, please meet in the parking lot to the far left of the Best Buy near North Point Mall (Best Buy is located at the intersection of Haynes Bridge Road and Exit 9 off of 400) by 9:15am. We will leave promptly at 9:30. FYI, I drive a white Toyota Sequoia. For planning purposes, expect to be back in the Atlanta area sometime around 5pm. See you on the trail!
