East Palisades

About The Trail: With the two new paths recently added, East Palisades is easily the best trail inside the Perimeter.

Overall, it is a really easy hike along the east bank of the Chattahoochie, just south of the Sope Creek trail system that includes some great forested pathways, a trail along the Chattahoochie, and a Bamboo Forest!

Distance/Skill Level: This is an easy hike with only one hill that takes about two minutes to ascend. Overall pace is good for beginning to intermediate hikers (2 - 2.5 miles per hour). Total distance should be 5-6 miles. Though no special equipment needed, walking poles might be helpful. Re food, since this is such a short hike, we'll make a five-minute stop to grab a bite, otherwise just some water and a snack should suffice. Where To Meet: Please meet at the lower parking lot at the trailhead next to the bridge. See you there! Directions: From GA 400, take 285 West, exit at New Northside Drive (this is two or so exits before the exit for 75); take left onto Northside Drive; continue up, then over the hill; at bottom of hill, make a right onto Harris Trail; right onto Whitewater Creek Road; first right at the sign for the park. Drive to parking lot.

Carpooling: I will run one carpool from the Best Buy at Haynes Bridge Road and GA 400 exit 9. Please email me to let you know you are coming, and be there by 10:15. BTW, I drive a white Toyota Sequoia.

Very nice hike, the bamboo spot and water streams made it very special. I was not expecting the scenic view from the top of the hill. Thank you Charlie for organizing this hike!

Once I got home, I checked the write-up to see where I missed the part about a fee requirement. Unless I am overlooking it still, there is no mention of a fee requirement. The organizer may want to mention any type of fee requirements for the park or otherwise. While hiking, I do not leave cash or valuables in the car nor do I carry cash while hiking. I'm sorry I missed the hike.
