About The Trail: The Swinging Bridge near Blue Ridge/Route 60 is one of the largest suspension bridges east of the Mississippi - yet is in the middle of the woods and is for hikers only!
We'll park at the nearest trailhead, then hike the bridge and parts of the Duncan Ridge and other trails. Total mileage will be about eight miles (more available if the group wants to do it!). No special equipment is needed, but do bring hiking shoes, lunch, water, some snacks, and some stories to share! Level/Pace is intermediate, so experienced hikers only for this trip, meaning you can hike 3mph or better. And as Steve and others always request: no pets or children please. BTW, please make sure to bring some water, lunch, and snacks, as well as a towel and shirt change for the ride home.
Meeting Times/Places/Directions: Meet at the trailhead, which is basically where you see the cars parked when the forest service road ends. FYI: The trail crosses Route 60 about 15 minutes south of Blue Ridge / 30 minutes NW of Dahlonega. It is marked with the standard hiker signs, plus there is a parking pull-off for about three cars at the hiker sign. Turn onto the Forest Service road going uphill across from the sign. The trailhead is about five minutes inward.
Carpool Options: Please meet in the parking lot on the left hand side of the Best Buy near North Point Mall (exit 9 off of 400) at 9:15am. <<< Important Note: While I usually run one carpool, please note that for this event I will meet everyone at the trailhead, and ask that someone post to become the carpool leader from Alpharetta for this event.
See you on the trail!
