This is the second planning session of the upcoming trip. On this meeting, we will discuss the parameters of each aspect of the trip, and food options for each aspect of the trip. We will also discuss car pooling. Finally, we will go over any questions anyone has about gear. This is the FINAL planning session I plan on having on this trip; I do plan on having a gear test run hike in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in early April, but I encourage all, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A NEW BACKPACKER, to attend this meeting. Plan on eating and drinking at this meeting to your hearts content.
We need to go over food for all parts of the trip, firewood for Friday night, and car pooling for the entire trip, plus any gear questions that those may have. I would ask that those who haven't touched base with me already; let me know 1) if they need gear, 2) if they plan on attending Friday night, and 3) if you'd like to participate in the community food option.
Please bring money, in small bills, as we will be voting on what to eat on Friday night and if I'm to order food for everyone from Fox's. If so, then I'd like you to prepay that part of your order. Secondly, I'd like those that plan on attending Friday night to pay about $2 each towards firewood (we can't transport firewood across state lines legally, so we have to buy it in PA). Finally, if you plan on partaking in community food, I would ask that you have about $15 to $20 available in small bills to pre-pay for that option if you choose that option. And NO, I'm not looking to make money on this trip. My time is free for you, I'm simply looking to expose those new to the backcountry. BUT, there is an expense for wood and food, so please bring funds if you want to partake in that to cover those expenses.
If you can't make the meeting, and I know there are those that are from out of town, at the very least, please contact me directly and answer the above questions with regards to gear and if you want me to cover you on food. That's fine, but I need to know in order to plan properly, and then simply bring your money to the trailhead. I'm more than happy to discuss this personally if need be. Finally, the "minutes" of this meeting will be posted on the site, so those that can't make if will know what happened.
I look forward to seeing everyone. Please let me know if you have questions.
