The weather is suppose to be A-M-A-Z-I-N-G on Sunday and Mark from the company said the lake will be nice and flat with maybe a wave here and there. I am totally stoked to get back to one of my favorite things in the world... kayak/raft/water :D Its not too late to sign up and get some sun and kick back on the beach :) $25 for three hours is pretty hard to beat! Hope to see you there!
....UPDATE PART DEUX....
Here is the link to reserve your kayak. Please pay it but Friday evening to ensure availability :D. We will meet at 9:30 and launching at 10. We have them until 1pm with maybe a little leeway at the end. (Is that how you spell leeway?!). Lol.... Also you may have to copy and paste this link as I am doing it from my iPhone and I am technologically inept!!!! http://kayak41north.com/schedule.aspx?SectionID=99&ScheduleID=885
Rates: $15 first hour. $5 each additional 1/2 hour. Not too shabby I think ;)
I am POSTPONING this kayak trip for one week. It will take place no matter what (sans lightening on the lake) on Sunday June 1. 41 degrees north emailed me back! They cannot guarantee availability of kayaks since it is their opening weekend and it is short notice. As far as reservations go for June 1 I will create a private registration link and you can preregister and pay individually online. This saves me from getting stuck with a bill for those who no show ;) I will close the link on Thursday May 29th so as to give them enough time for kayak availability and to give us a concrete head count as to who is going. If you have any questions, comments or concern please feel free to give me a buzz. [masked])Hey Everyone!
I am excited to put together a kayaking outing! This trip is open to everyone of all levels. And if you have never even been near a kayak, don't worry we are here to make it all comfortable and easy breezy. This trip will start out at a livery called 41 Degrees North at the marina in Rocky River Reservation. At the very north end of the park.
As of today (5/13) their mailbox is full and I haven't received an email back discussing rates and times. However I wanted to post this meetup to see how many people would be interested in going. I am opening it up to 10 spots as I don't know what their opening weekend (Memorial Day weekend) will be like. I will keep you all informed of updates concerning times and rates as I get them (when I get them) from the livery.
On with the fun... We will kayak down a canal and out onto Lake Erie to explore the shore. There is a great little beach that we can paddle to and get out and maybe have a little lunch.
So what should you bring?
1. Number one is some kind of dry bag for keys, camera, wallet etc. Lunch baggies are ok but can come undone. You can pick up a fairly cheap dry bad at Dick's.
2. Sunscreen...you will get sun even if it is cloudy and nothing ruins the weekend like a bad burn. So sunscreen and a hat.
3. Swimsuit/trunks.... YOU WILL GET WET! Avoid jean shorts and tennis shoes. some kind of Teva or Chaco sandals are ideal.
4. Lunch.... feel free to pack a snack or lunch for when we dock at the beach.
5. Water...because I am not filtering Lake Erie...
6. Towels for you and your car on the way home ;D
With all this being said if you have a major fear of water I would hold off on this trip and wait until a RIVER kayak trip comes up. Being out on the lake can be intimidating for someone with a fear of water.
