Annual Pugkin Festival

AAAHH...It's that time of year when the kids are back in school, the weather is getting cooler, leaves are starting to turn and pugs everywhere are looking through their closets for that perfect costume. Yes, it's time for our annual PUGKIN FESTIVAL!!!!!!!

This is our biggest event of the year where we not only raise the funds to support our meetup group but also have an absolute blast doing it. As always, we will have our costume contest...I know the pugs are ever so excited about that one ...and once again, we are bringing back our "Bringing Home the Bacon" Pug Races (weather permitting) for all you race fans out there....who needs NASCAR! We also will continue to have raffles to win goodies for your puggie(s) to benefit both our group and Curly Tail Pug Rescue! This year we will also be continuing our "swap" event . . .bring a harness, collar, leash, toy, sweater your puggie no longer uses (in clean condition please) and "swap" it out with something else . . .or simply donate it! Anything left at the end of the day will be donated to Curly Tail Pug Rescue.

We will supply the apple cider and hot beverages if some of you would be so kind as to bring some snacks to share (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, chips, fruit, veggies etc.). After all, pugs aren't the only ones that enjoy their treats. If bringing homemade dog treats, please list the ingredients as many of our pug members have allergies. Every year, thanks to you all, we have a smorgasbord of delicacies - for both humans and puggies.

There are bathroom facilities right at the pavilion! Please remember to dress according to the weather that day...both you and your pugs!

Here are more details about the events:
Pugkin Costume Contest....
Come all you Puggie pumpkins, princes, princesses and costumed critters...participation in the contest is free! There will be awards in 4 categories plus an award for overall "Most Creative Costume".The catagories are:
Best Female Pug Costume
Best Male Pug Costume
Best Couple/Group Costume
Totally Pugged (for those that want to dress up along with their Pugs...don't be shy now!)
Most Creative Costume

Bringing Home the Bacon Pug Races....
Making a comeback and guaranteed to be a blast! There will be a $1.00 entry fee per Pug. Half of the fee will go directly back to our meetup group to cover expenses and the other half will be divided up for the prize money for the winners, hence, the "bringing home the bacon" part. The more that sign up, the larger the prize money! There will be 2 winners, one for Pugs under 6yrs. old and the other 6 yrs. and older. We will supply the cheese and turkey dogs for encouragement (or you can bring your own bribes) and you supply the Pug power and enthusiasm! (please note that side betting is prohibited )

So tell your friends and family to join us in the fun. Admission is only $5.00 per family and for less than $20, you, your pug and your family can be involved in all events...where else can you have this much fun for that price?!!! Due to space and safety reasons, this event is only open to pugs and pug mixes...sorry, non pugs. It is also a rain or shine event as we can only rent the pavilion for that one day, so keep those fingers and paws crossed for a beautiful day!
