About The Indianapolis New in Town Meetup Group

Welcome to the Indianapolis New in Town Meetup Group! My name is Danielle and I'm the group organizer. I can't wait to meet you at our next meetup event! I hope to carry on the great organizing done by past group organizers Emily Voss, Margaret Schlesinger and Sarah Magnuski (thanks ladies!) and of course by our wonderful Assistant Organizers.

This meetup group is for anyone who is looking to meet new people and make some social connections in Indianapolis. A lot of people in Indianapolis grew up here so they already have an established network of friends. It can be hard to know where to start making friends outside of work, especially if you're new in town. (Of course you are welcome to join the group even if you're not new in town.) The New-to-Indy group is wonderful because it encompasses such a diverse group of interesting, funny, welcoming people. I encourage you to fill out your profile when you join the group so people can learn a little something about you!

We have held a lot of different events in the past and we try to plan events to suit people with a variety of interests. We've gone out to dinner, been bowling, seen baseball and hockey games, gone to happy hours, took a day trip to King's Island, visited a haunted house, had picnics, met at coffeehouses and even had a cookie swap. There is something for everyone and we are always looking for new ideas. If you have a suggestion or question, please feel free to post it on the site or email me through the site.

It can be a little intimidating coming to a meetup event where you don't know anyone. But I promise that we're friendly! Please don't be bashful, we have all gone through the same experience. If you get to an event and don't recognize the group, call the cell phone number of whomever organized the event (it will be posted in the event details). We'll find you!

Please don't feel that you can only come to one event or that you are obligated to come to them all. Come to the events that fit into your schedule and interest you. If you are interested in planning an event yourself, let me know and I will make you an Assistant Organizer. That way you will be able to set things up and email the group. This whole group is only as successful as its members so share your thoughts and ideas with us!

I should stress that the group is geared towards friendly socializing, not dating. There are a lot of other sites out there if you are interested in singles events, including groups organized through meetup.com. Please do not join the group or come to our events if you're only looking for a date. It makes for a far less inviting atmosphere for other members.

Additionally, we do not allow group members to advertise products or services on our group website or at our group events. Any members who place advertising in their profile or who post advertisements on the group message board will be removed from the group.
