The Brooklyn Historical Society is running a workshop on Preserving Your Family Documents; the October 22 session will focus on family photographs. On hand will be various examples of best practices for long-term storage of 4x6 color prints, 35mm slides, and more rare nineteenth-century cased photographs: daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their own photographs for individual assessment. BHS Photographic Archivist Julie May will provide background information on common photographic formats, best storage practices, and provide resources for continued at-home preservation. Advanced ticket purchase recommended as the event will fill up. $30 BHS members/$50 non-members

Brooklyn Historical Society is located on Pierrepont Street, at the corner of Clinton Street, close to the 2, 3, 4, 5 and R subway lines.
