Just looked at this closely again and noticed it's the library down the block from the lions. Good thing I checked. Would have wondered where everyone was!

We'd better verify this. I am very familiar with both libraries and the only south court classrooms I know are in the 42 Street Research Branch -"the lions". (Sorry I can't say Schwartzman as it "sticks in my throat like MacBeth's 'amen'.) The genealogy collection is located there as well and not at Midtown Manhattan Branch. Our intrepid leader Bridget has never misled us before but anything's possible.

The genealogy collection was with the lions, aka Astor and Lenox, unless they moved it. Lily's is near both if folks want some Irish cocoa and chocolates afterwards.

Hi everyone! I assumed it was in the BIG/lion/mainlibrary (!) but will confirm on Monday and ensure we are all in the right spot! I will comment here and to RSVP list.

Just to remind everyone that coats can be checked on the first floor before heading to the South Court classrooms. Probably a good idea to do that since we'll be walking around a bit during the tour.

It was a great experience for me because, for the first time, I can see a real pathway to my research. It's beautiful to know that this great public institution welcomes me. Thanks so much to Bridget B. for organizing this. Plus the people at the meal afterward were friendly and informative.

5 Star Tour of Genealogy sources at NYPL. Thanks Bridget for arranging this. Learned a great deal on this private tour

Thanks to Bridget for organizing this very informative, user-friendly orientation about genealogy resource available at the NYPL. The suggestion to seek out other research avenues in addition to Ancestry.com was certainly a welcome one and the fact that there are librarians available to help with genealogical records is very helpful! And you don't even have to be from New York to get an NYPL card--who knew?

Excellent presentation by the NYPL, I took a full page of notes, and I write small. I've been in Rm121 many times using their computers, but now I know what's on the shelves and have to go back and reference them.
