IBG Lazy Sunday Afternoon - English Language - Phrases

Hi All,

I hope you're all well and enjoying the cooler summer weather that we've been having.

The time has come again for another Lazy Sunday Afternoon.

Everyone is welcome as this will be held in a public place.

The format of this type of meetup is more relaxed than the Tuesday and Thursday ones but this is the usual routine we follow:

2:30 - 2:45 Meet, order lunch

2:45 - 3:45 Eat lunch

3:45 - finish Discuss Meetup topic

The topic for the next meetup is based around the English language - there is so much I find fascinating that i've struggled to narrow it down to one aspect. I will be holding more meetups on the English language so this is just the beginning.

This time please bring along ( in a book  / paper / kindle / phone  / your head ) 5 phrases that you find funny / interesting / unique to English. We will discuss the origins of the phrase as well as it's context ( if from a literary work ).

See you then,

Hannah :-)

    great
Hi all, it was nice to meet your gang. I quite enjoyed unfettered flow of intellect... and definitely I would enlist for a quiz night (one with the biggest money prize ;-)). I can help with physics, and I'm not bad at all at Art and Films.
Just in reference to topics of our chat I'd gladly share:

    1.
BBC "Make me a German" -

    2.
Luis CK - some examples of his uproarious stuff (about language and phrases too ;) -
