I have been trying to find a group in Jersey City in which I can meet other moms like me who want to get in shape after having the baby. I really can't be away from my baby because I exclusively breastfeed him and I just like to have him with me.
I am a (way) former runner and I have just never found the motivation to run/jog/race for years. The purpose of this group is simply to get back in shape as a group whether that means walking, power walking, jogging, running with or without your baby. I'm new at this meetup.com thing but not at being a leader. I was the captain of my cross country/track teams in high school so I know my basics when it comes to training if that is what the members of this group will need.
But for now, this group is for moms who want to get out and exercise together and need motivation! I know I do and if you join, others will too, and we can all have fun and be fit together!
Need for incentive to join? I will bring snacks, refreshments, whatever you need to meet ups so we can be energized before and after our sessions!
Oh and please don't feel that this is only for new mommies or moms with infants/toddlers only. Really this is for women in general who want to be fit and I am not going to discriminate against anyone! Let's do this ladies!
EDIT (11/7/11): So as some of you may know, I started running again (yay!) and I completed a 5K (the HoBOOken Halloween 5K) on October 29th. It was awesome and I hope to inspire more of you mommies to come out and train with Ayaan and I. We'll have to get creative in the coming winter months when we can't get out in the snow but for now, bundle them up, grab those jogging strollers, and come out! =D
