Simplifying Scala — The Past, Present and Future

Making a language simpler and more consistent, removing confusing parts and reducing the obstacles frequently hit by beginners is often a worthwhile, but also a hard and long process.

This talk will look at the work already done as well as the efforts currently underway to improve the design and the consistency of Scala and give an optimistic vision of things still to come.

The talk will be in English (although I'm able to switch to German if everyone in the audience is comfortable with it).

The talk will be given by Simon, who is a contributor of the Scala project.

Schedule

18:30 Welcome and organizational matters

18:40 Simplifying Scala — The Past, Present and Future

The company is located in the Hoepfner-Burghof, on the third floor. You'll see signs posted to help you find your way.

I'll chime in and say thank you Simon!

Btw: are your slides available somewhere? Especially the lessens learned would have been of interest (I sadly wasn't able to stay beyond the talk, so sorry if the question was already answered afterwards)
