This hiking event is offered by the Kalamazoo Nature Center (KNC) from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The Dr. Bates Challenge starts with the Bluebird Trail, break for lunch at the Interpretive Center, and then we head out to the Source Pond.
Some hikers may choose to do the Dr Bates Challenge of all 14 trails that link together for a total of about 13 miles.
Consider joining us at least for the 2.7 mile Bluebird Trail beginning at 9 a.m. even if you choose not to stay to hike the additional trails.
Bring your lunch, snacks (salty to keep your energy up), and water. Consider wearing hiking boots or shoes with a tread as we are traversing on unpaved paths. Dress in layers in case you get warm or cold. Hat's are helpful in case of sun or rain.
