This Month Hike will be... a SEDONA hiking day Adventure
We will meet and carpool from the Target on the south/east corner of 101E freeway and Frank Lloyd Wright in north Scottsdale at 6am sharp.
The commute will take us into Sedona via the Hwy 179 turnoff from the I17.
We will begin our adventure with a 2 hr hike of Cathedral Rock, the trail I have chosen begins with a mild climb of the red rock to a panoramic view to include multiple rock formations and leads down a switch back to the creek and foliage below with great picture opportunities. This is an out and back hike.
We will break near uptown Sedona to eat lunch at Javelina Cantina 671 Hwy 179, Located In the Hillside Shopping Center, Sedona, AZ[masked] and take in some yummy nutrition and more fabulous views of the red rock area in the A/C.
after lunch we will head up oak creek for a 20 min scenic drive with tree canopies over the road and lots of greenery to arrive at our afternoon hike at West Fork trail head.
This is also an out and back with very modest climbing and full tree coverage and crosses the creek in multiple areas where you can hop skip across the rocks for added adventure, at the turn around a very oohahh surprise awaits you to have a moment of breathtaking quiet to reflect on the awesome day everyone just had together.
The second trail is truly a friendly hike to enjoy and if the afternoon clouds and breeze arrive its all the better. The second hike is about 2hrs also and the wild raspberry patches might be in full eating season too!
The 1st trail requires a $5 per car pass we will pickup on the way in at the grocery store and use the bathroom prior to the hike and
The second is a $10 per car fee paid at the trail head to be shared by each vehicles occupants and lunch is Dutch (aka everyone for themselves) I will provide a cooler with ice for anyone who needs to freshen their water bottles and gallons of drinking water too.
We should be back in the valley early eve, I’m guessing by 6pm.
Happy Hiking - Julie
