I have watched a good friend brought down by schizophrenia and realized that it was just as important to keep myself, family, and friends informed and mentally healthy so they could be there for her. I have recently become involved with the local National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) chapter and would like to share the information I have learned and get more people involved to help themselves, help their loved ones, and to support NAMI with time and donations. If you have a loved on that suffers a mental illness then there is help not only for your loved one but you also. You can not begin to help others unless you are in a good space to begin with.
