The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third book, stands as the supreme achievement of his career. This exemplary novel of the Jazz Age has been acclaimed by generations of readers. The story of the fabulously wealthy Jay Gatsby and his love for the beautiful Daisy Buchanan, of lavish parties on Long Island at a time when The New York Times noted “gin was the national drink and sex the national obsession,” it is an exquisitely crafted tale of America in the 1920s.

The Great Gatsby is one of the great classics of twentieth-century literature.

We'll be meeting up at Sarah's house. She will send out the address to all the RSVPers a day or two before the meeting. Don't forget to bring something to share!

Good morning, everyone! My apologies for not making it last night. I had a 5:30 appointment that went far longer than expected. I hope to have another opportunity to meet you all soon.

I am going to TRY to make it... it largely depends on childcare (unless I can bring my 9 year old !)

My coworker and I were just talking about reading this again before the movie comes out. We would love to join you, and as someone new to Lawrence I would love the opportunity to meet new people.

You don't have to have read the book. We always talk about it, but we usually spend more time gabbing and drinking wine.

Can I ask a stupid question? For these book club meet ups I am assuming we are supposed to have e book read by that time, so then do we just get together to talk about it or what? Thanks :p

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
