A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far, Away........

After an extended hiatus, the gaming galaxy of Star Wars is returning to Lincoln.  The game will play every other Saturday and will be limited in head count to keep the playing group right for the challenges.  If you are interested send me an email or come to this session and see what it is about.  We will be focusing on rules, characters, table rules, and expectations.  If there is time, we may start the adventure but this is secondary to the first set of things I want to accomplish.  Beware the Darkside, it is waiting around every corner!

Okay since I forgot to post this over the weekend here are the info you will need to build your characters

Ability scores: Each character will have a pool of 90 ability points to assign as you choose across your six stats, the total can not exceed 90. This is enough points to average a 15 in each stat.
Droid characters only have 75 points to use as they do not have a Con score.
Any racial/species ability adjustment is applied after you generate scores as is normal.

Droid characters are available to play but they must be 4th degree combat/security droids. The other degrees (1-3, & 5) are not available as characters.

Base Attack modification: By rules as written you must take a feat to get additional attacks. We will be dropping that. The feats double attack & triple attack will be removed from the game. Now each level when your BAB increase to +6,+12, +18 you will receive an additional attack at a -5 penalty.

I believe the double bladed lightsaber is a light weapon. I have 2d8 + STR Mod + half character level for each blade. Nothing additional yet.

Ok. I know we were talking about what days we were going to play. I will have this and next Saturday off but will have to work the following. Let me know what the plan is.

Well Folks, looks like Lucasfilm has just erased the entire EU Book/Comic Book series as part of official cannon. So other than the movies the skies the limit. Our entire time era was wiped out in a move more crafty than the Death Star blowing up Alderran.

Ok, a quick update on the year of play, I am changing it to the year ABY 131. This is being done to accommodate more easily parts of Mike's back story which I really like. Thanks to both Mike and Jesse for the back stories I love to read em. I would like back stories from my other players to if you are so inclined. :)

Quickly I detail plans for the Spice Mines of Kessel, where jawas there toil machines at hard labor, where R2 Droids are covered everywhere with restraining bolts and are hit repeatedly with ion guns until their innards fry and become utterly useless. Every R2 unit in the galaxy is in this exact spot. Choose wisely.

hey thats perfect for the r2 unit then lol

Hoe about carrying around a shoulder fired Mimi proton torpedo launcher?

Have mercy. Guess I will have to postpone actually playing the game for a month while I review all available information.

I don't know if I really want to move everything out there and metal chairs will be really uncomfortable after several hours (at least for me lol)

I have found a few really handy docs/spreadsheets that compile all the skills/feats/force powers/talents from across all the books I will toss them up on my google drive and post the link after I do.

i thought we were going to play mikes game till the end of the current book

    April 20, 2014

That was the original plan but since the campaign is coming to some critical story bits and I want to take some time and make sure I know all the details of each of the following sections very well, have the time to make any changes that might be needed, as well as I want to make a couple of props one being fairly elaborate if I can do it the way I want to.

On top of that I really want to take a break from DMing for a bit. The playing every week for 8-10 hours thing we had been doing kind of wore me down as well as the other issues that had reared their heads.

An update to below the era is actually the Legacy Era (which contains the New Jedi Order era of Star Wars) see appropriate source book and other sources for background info.

  • Erik S.

I want to thank Hans and Mike both for their participation in helping me with preparation for the upcoming game as I am learning the game as well and appreciate their input and help ironing out some bumps in the current rule system. It is appreciated, thank you. :) I have selected the New Jedi Order Era as the timeframe for play. This is a period usually identified by the Vong invaders. My new story will take place somewhere in what is called the Legacy era a specific year has not yet been selected. Thanks!

so mike can you post the changes so we can all start our characters ahead of time. That way it won't take as long to build characters on the first session. And yeah 75 for a droid is what I would use if I decide to go combat droid.

    April 20, 2014

    • Hans G.

just so everyone knows combat droids of the 4th degree are the only exception to Erik's no droid rule and still need dm approval.

      April 20, 2014

  • Erik S.

    Not anymore.

Since characters would are going to start at 3rd level would ((level x [level -1]) x 2,000 credits) work for starting credits? 3rd level characters would then be starting with 12k credits.
Only exception would be Nobles that have the wealth talent then they would start with 24k.

Source I found and it seems reasonable is an official Wizards Q&A thread.

Since droids don't have a Con score using 90 points for ability scores for them is a bit overkill, I was thinking that droid characters use 75 points. 90 points allows for 15's in all six stats so since droids only have five stats 75 will give the same result and keep anyone for making a droid with all 18's, which is what using 90 would do.

As a side not 90/75 makes some hella good stats, I was working on my character and have[masked] at the moment lol.

      April 20, 2014

    • Erik S.

Well guess we will just have to half that. 35/20 then :p

"You know that is just too good!" the former stormtrooper turned freelancer said a smile on his face. The female jedi got to her feet wiping the last bit from her mouth. A sheepish smile on her face.

Jedi's gotta do what a Jedi's got to do to survive, even if that means a warm fresh protein shake. Especially when faced with a a handsome soldier and a fire burning in her loins.

lmao a clone protein shake. hey at least they were blanks.

A cold hissing was barely audible as the cold gas cylinder was dropped into place in the E-11's housing. "This is cyclonic freezing capsule, something the Empire made to deal with Jedi during order 66. You twitch one muscle and you're dead." the stormtrooper's cold gaze fixed on the robed figure from behind the cold black eye lenses. The robed man, a twi'lek, identified from the blue head tendrils extending from each side of his skull, just smiled. Before the stormtrooper could take another breath, the Jedi had launched himself in the air and cleanly sliced the man in a diagonal cut from left shoulder to right side. The Jedi landed with his back to the man, turning in time to see the freshly sliced torso slide in two. He took no pleasure in the man's death of course, and took a moment to reflect on the action. The wind catching his robe twirling it about him.
