I couldn't help but notice that quite of few of us have listed Adventure Racing as an activity we either do today or would like to learn more about. For those that don't know, Adventure Racing it's one of the fastest growing team sports, with each race usually combining trail running, mountain biking and canoeing. Sprint events can last between 3-6 hours and the longer events at the extreme end of the scale can go on for up to 10 days!!! (not for me). The goal is to get together with a mixed crowd of keen racers and novices, so that we can enter a few teams for this years events. Our last event was the Ace event at Ashdown forest and we managed to enter two teams - check out the photos link to see us in action and the big smiles. The whole point is to race, but to have some fun in the process. No two races are the same and you have to be ready for all the mental and physical challenges the race director will throw at you. Here are some links to sprint races in the US just to give the newcomers an idea of what could be store: http://www.veoh.com/videos/v10837354D5H8AfF...http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=as8Khh9kOnE&a... Why not come along to one of our meetings and learn more about this tough and yet thoroughly enjoyable type of racing.
