After some very serious-minded events this year, our 2nd birthday is going to be an extravaganza of fun, cake (hopefully) and indoor slides. The lovely folk at Mind Candy are opening up their new offices for us (and if you get there early enough you can have a go on their slide). The equally lovely Richard Taylor from MediaTaylor is sponsoring our drinks during the event, so please make sure you give him a cuddle at some point during the evening.
We have a great bunch of speakers, who have been briefed to focus on keeping the fun in educational games. Beyond that they have free reign to present how they like, so ... er ... anything could happen! After the presentations we'll have a panel session, where you can ask the speakers questions. Later on we'll be moving to the Blueberry Bar on Paul Street for drinks and further networking.
Divinia Knowles, CFO/COO of Mind Candy, will do a brief intro to Mind Candy and kick off the event.
Phil Stuart, Creative Director of Preloaded, the expert edugames studio, will be talking about recipes for keeping the fun in edugames.
Fresh from the doll factory, Jo Roach, co-founder of Makielab, will be telling us about the Makies' philosophy of playfulness as well as providing insights from her past as a producer at Channel 4 and Somethin' Else.
Martyn Jones, Product Manager and Senior Games Developer at Mind Candy, will be telling us about the Moshi Monsters story and how Mind Candy inject the fun into their games.
The magnificent Dawn Hallybone (@dawnhallybone) is returning to #LEGup to share her take on educational games and fun in the classroom. As well as being an expert on teaching with educational games, Dawn always has excellent insights and tips for games devs.
We expect this event to be very popular, so please keep your RSVP up to date. We apologise, but we really can't sneak any extras in to the event (you can always join us at the Blueberry Bar later if you can't get a ticket).
See you there!
