Update
Because of engineering works on Sunday, we will be taking an earlier train at 10.44am, and we will have to get a bus at Purley to complete the journey. This is due to arrive at Tattenham Corner at 12.10. There will be a bit of a wait at Purley for the bus. Please make sure you get to London Bridge on time for the train - and get there in time to buy tickets if you need them, or ensure you have plenty of credit on your oyster card.
My phone number is 07794 017227 - text is best.
We will do a circular walk, finishing at Tattenham Corner - and go for a lunch at the restaurant/bar near the station. Its a Beefeater Grill, so prices are reasonable, and it is fairly standard pub food. There is a separate bar area if anyone just wants a drink. There is also a tea kiosk in the car on our way back which may suit some of you better.
Those meeting us at Tattenham Corner - I plan to be on our way on our walk by 12.20/25.
We'll walk for around an hour and a half - there isn't anywhere for a half way stop so I have kept the walk itself down to a shorter time than usual, but we can stop now and again along the way.
Buses back to Purley for the onward trip back to London Bridge leave Tattenham Corner at 20 and 50 mins past the hour.
This is really a country walk, so please wear appropriate footwear and clothes you don't mind getting muddy. The forecast for Sunday is mild and overcast, but dry (but bring a raincoat just in case).
See you all on Sunday
================================
A winter country walk of around 5 miles on Epsom Downs, home of Epsom Racecourse. To make the most of the countryside routes, we will be starting from Tattenham Corner station, which is around an hour's journey from London Bridge.
Meet either at London Bridge station to catch the 11.09 train, or at Tattenham Corner to meet that train when it arrives at 12.10. If there are problems on that particular route due to planned engineering I will reschedule this walk for another time, and do an alternative walk that day.
I would like to follow this walk with an optional Sunday lunch as there are several good pubs in the area - of course you can just come for a drink before making your way home, but I will be asking nearer the time to ensure I book a table for those who want lunch - I would aim to have us at our venue for around 2.30pm.
Tattenham Corner is (just) inside the Travelcard Zone, Zone 6, so you can use a PAYG Oystercard if you wish.
It's Ramona I am wondering if I can bring my dog along for this walk, who is very well behaved could someone let me know.
@ Ramona, I personally am happy for the occasional dog to join us for our country walks. Epsom Downs is doggy central!
Hi Alison, from London Bridge it looks like we need to first go to Purley then take a bus from purley to tattenham corner, according to the national rail site. :-)
Yes, the engineering work, what a mess. The bus from Purley leaves at 11:25 to be at Tattenham at 12.10. We will be coming from Brighton, so we need to know if this is the bus you will be on. Where will the walk actually finish? Need to know for buying the tickets.
Hi, I just got a note from Alison, that she has seen the messages and she will update everyone tomorrow.

@Kay - at the moment the answer is no from the timings I've worked out, I don't want to risk walking on Epsom Downs in the dark, and I'm factoring in the meal as well.
