An evening with Jonathan & Angela Scott - Living with Leopards

Hello Safari Members!

I am delighted to announce an evening with celebrated wildlife expert & presenter of 'Big Cat Diary’, Jonathan Scott & his wife Angela Scott, both award winning photographers, at the Royal Geographical Society in London on Wed 19 Sept.

The talk will explore the challenges for communities sustaining a living on the borders of Yala National Park, Sri Lanka & the Masai Mara Reserve in Kenya; jewels of the natural world. The impact of living with leopards – arguably one of the most charismatic of the ‘Big Cats’ – and the challenges of photographing these secretive predators, will be highlighted through Jonathan & Angela’s compelling narrative & awe-inspiring imagery.

Respected naturalists, authors & passionate conservationists, the Scotts have travelled to the most remote regions, documenting the last great wilderness areas on the planet. I hope you can join for an evening filled with enthralling stories & wonderful photographs.

Tickets can be purchased on the following link & are £15 each. The funds raised will go towards community and conservation projects in Yala National Park... http://www.foc-uk.com/events/booking.asp

Please let me know if you are interested & when you have purchsed your ticket(s). Tickets will sell 'very' quickly,

Best Wishes, Craig

    Hi Safari Members!

Doors at the venue will be open from 6.30pm and the talk in the lecture theatre is scheduled to start at 7.15pm. The theatre opens from 6:45pm & the presentation approx. duration is an 1½hrs. Jonathan & Angela Scott will also be around afterwards, signing books, etc,

I am providing the venue the names of all ticket holders. They will direct you all through to ‘The Hall’ with drinks/refreshments where we can all meet. I am trying my level best to get a block of 15 or so seats together in the venue, so we can all sit near each other.

Please arrive around 6:30pm, but not after 7pm. My no. is[masked]

Margaret... unfortunately, I did clearly explain that tickets need to be purchased directly on the 'Friends of Conservation' website for £15, and I did mention this a number of times. So with regret, if you don't have a ticket then unfortunately you will not be allowed in. They have also warned people against turning up on the door hoping for a ticket, as unfortunately they cannot allow non-ticket holders in.

Antonio & Stephanie, have you both actually purchased your tickets?

Hi Guys, just thought i'd let you know that BBC iPlayer has an hour program 'Natural World - The Secret Leopards', where Jonathan Scott narrates the extraordinary story of the leopard. By following the lives of leopard mothers and their cubs in East Africa, the film investigates what it is about the natural history of these cats that makes them born survivors. Perhaps the most extraordinary revelation is that leopards are living undercover on farms and even in cities across Africa and Asia.

This is very relevant to our up-and-coming 'MeetUp' at the Royal Geographical Society on the 19 Sept. To watch the program click on the following link; http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00q9y41/Natural_World_20092010_The_Secret_Leopards/

    Enjoy, Craig

Hi Heidi & Anne-Marie, I have just spoken to Amanda Bleasby of the 'Friends of Conservation'. Unfortunately, they do not offer any discounted tickets as the proceeds go to charity.

Please contact Amanda if you would like to book your ticket;[masked] 3408. Tickets are selling very fast, with only a handfall left. Please state that you are from this 'Meetup' Group.

Let me know once you have purchased your ticket(s) :)

Thanks for posting this question Heidi-I had the same question. I am a full time student as well and it would help bring in more people if they offered concessions. Let us know the outcome. Thanks,
