Meet to discuss Sex at Dawn by Ryan & Jetha

Joint authored by psychologist Chris Ryan and psychiatrist Cacilda Jetha, New York Times best seller Sex at Dawn challenges conventional wisdom on male and female mating psychology. Expect heated debate as we take on their licentious thesis.

Selected Reviews

“Funny, witty, and light ... Sex at Dawn is a scandal in the best sense, one that will have you reading the best parts aloud and reassessing your ideas about humanity’s basic urges well after the book is done.” (Newsweek)

“Sex At Dawn is a provocative and engaging synthesis... that has the added benefit of being a joy to read.... A book sure to generate discussion, and one likely to produce more than a few difficult conversations with family marriage counselors.” (Eric Michael Johnson, Seed Magazine)

“This paradigm-shifting book is a thoroughly original discussion of the origins and nature of human sexuality... These authors have a gift for making complex material reader-friendly, filling each chapter with humor and passion as well as dozens of revolutionary insights.” (Stanley Krippner, Ph.D.)

“Sex at Dawn challenges conventional wisdom about sex in a big way. By examining the prehistoric origins of human sexual behavior the authors are able to expose the fallacies and weaknesses of standard theories proposed by most experts. This is a provocative, entertaining, and pioneering book. I learned a lot from it and recommend it highly.” — Andrew Weil, M.D.

“Sex At Dawn is the single most important book about human sexuality since Alfred Kinsey unleashed Sexual Behavior in the Human Male on the American public in 1948.” (Dan Savage)

The Session

The Brixton Session takes place on the last sunday of every month. It kicks off at 2pm and lasts approximately 2 hours. An agenda with key questions arising from the text will be used to frame the discussion. It's a creative session where everyone is encouraged to contribute and share.

For those that fancy talking on the conversation will spill over to Brixton Ritzy's bar.

No Book?

Normally Brixton Library order in our books, but I was so keen to get this on the reading list there was no time for the library to buy it in. Available on Amazon here.  It's certainly a book worthy of a place in any budding psychologists' collection. I also have a few copies for those with e-readers. Email me.

Travel

The library is in the heart of Brixton, with numerous travel options including tube, train and bus. If driving you should have little trouble finding free parking nearby.

Note the google map for Brixton Library on our meetup page shows the wrong location and refuses to change. Put the Library's postcode (SW2 1JQ) in your own mapping service to see the correct location.

Related to one of the topics in Sex at Dawn, I just read an interesting news story about how Pre-agricultural humans were much fitter and taller than modern day humans.

Dee, exact same situation for me! Was very much looking forward to this as I had previously read the book and have much to say about it. Hopefully we'll both be able to make next month's. :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
