The London Psychology Reading Group (formerly, The Psychology and Multicultural Literature Reading Group) gets to the heart of popular psychology and the personal development movement, selecting books that inspire, motivate and challenge us to reflect on our experiences and consider how psychology, relationships and culture intersect and influence our perceptions of contemporary lived experience.
Please Note: The group is for people in their 20's and 30's. The aim is to encourage a younger demographic to join reading groups. It's a social group as well as a reading group!
The main genre of books we read full under psychology, wellbeing and personal development. This include theoretically minded books by trailblazing psychologists, to personal development books that have intrigued, inspired and motivated millions.
For a unique take, occasionally we read biographies and fictional novels whose literature perceptively captures the nuances of contemporary self-hood and modern living. Synthesising books from the two areas provides a novel approach to applying key psychological concepts.
No need to be an academic to get involved! We're a non-pretentious easygoing bunch in our 20s and 30s keen to read and reflect philosophically on our experiences: only popular, accessible and inspiring books on the reading list.

The overarching aim is to build a friendly community of lovers of books all relating to psychology. The reading group is a friendly refuge where members have a chance to share thoughts and engage in stimulating conversation.
This reading group is open to anyone who is passionate about psychology and keen to explore how it impacts on our lives in an increasingly multicultural world. Members are aged from 20-39, but those who are a few years older or younger who feel an affinity with this age group are welcome to attend.
How it Works
Refreshments including wine and fresh juice provided. The library are supporting the group and will be purchasing books of the reading list so members can take them out on loan.
The organisers have compiled the reading list and co-ordinated books with the libraries. Books have been selected in this way to avoid confusion and to please a wide variety of tastes within the framework of popular psychology and multicultural literature. Books for the reading list may occasionally be taken from books recommended in people's profile, so please fill this section out.
